The Port-Royal Hotel is ideally situated for sight seeing as it
is located within walking distance of many different tourist attractions
around Paris, such as
the Pantheon, Jardin des
Plantes, Luxembourg Gardens, the River
Seine, La
Grande Mosque de Paris, the National Museum of
Natural History as well as the Mus?e du Cluny.
There are many different restaurants nearby to the hotel such as the famous Michelin
starred Paris
restaurant call La Tour d'Argent.
Others that may take your fancy for a lunch or an evening meal include the Atelier Maitre
Albert run by the renowned chef Guy Savoy, Les Papilles
Restaurant & Delicatessen where you can purchase lots of delights including a great
selection of wine and the Aux Portes de
l'Orient with its North African, Islamic style feel located in the oldest mosque in
France.
And not just for its location, but with its cleanliness and inviting atmosphere it has
earned a good reputation where many different artists and performers have stayed, and in
fact you can admire paintings by one of the artists that has stayed at this hotel.
The Hotel Facilities
The hotel has two lounges and a dining room with television. There is a lovely patio
area as well, which is a great place to have breakfast or relax with a drink in the summer
time or perhaps read in peace under the cover of shade from the parasols.
For those with mobility problems, you will be pleased to know that there is a lift and it
certainly saves dragging your suitcases up stairs!
The ground floor of the Port-Royal Hotel is air-conditioned and they serve breakfast in
the dining room or if preferred on the patio during the summer months. However, you
can also have the continental breakfast served to your room for no extra charge.
A major plus for those of you arriving by car, is that parking in the streets surrounding
the hotel is allowed free of charge from 7pm through to 9am the next morning along with
being allowed to park on Saturdays, Sundays, on national holidays and during the month of
August. But at any other times you can only be parked for two hours, yet there is an
underground car park only three minutes away which is around 22€ per day.
Hotel Room Facilities
The rooms face either the courtyard or the street and the rooms that face the street are
equipped with double windowpanes.
The rooms are bright and comfortable, yet very basic for those on a budget and some rooms
only have a washbasin rather than full en suite bathroom facilities, so it best to check
on this when booking.
However all rooms are equipped with telephones.
Rates as of 2008: A single room with washbasin is from 41€ and a double room with one
bed or two beds, toilets and shower for one or two guests is from 78€. The
continental style breakfast is 5,50€ per person.
