Cruising Along The River Seine in France

Several companies offer tours on the River Seine if it be during the day and some also offer tours in the evening as well.

You can take a walk or what some would call a hike round Paris to see some of the famous monuments that this city has to offer, but there is a fabulous opportunity for viewing quite a number of the city's historical architecture and landmarks by taking a cruise on the River Seine.

Cruising Along The River Seine in France

Several companies offer tours throughout the day and some also offer tours in the evening as well.  Some tour operators give you the option of a lunch and others do complete dinner cruises, including ones where you have to dress for the occasion in dinner suits to sit down for a romantic gourmet meal of true French food, whilst cruising along the Seine in the evening with the glowing lights of Paris as your backdrop.

One of the most relaxing ways to view the sights in all their grandeur is from the glass-covered decks of the bateaux-mouches, which are unique long-boats that leisurely go up and down the River Seine.

After World War II, the popularity of these sightseeing vessels flourished in Paris and although there are the original Bateaux-Mouches, there are also a number of different tour operators that have similar vessels and the name Bateaux-Mouches is now synonymous with all tourist boats on the River Seine.

Bateaux-Mouches is a reputable company that offers tours both during the day and in the evening.  Visitors are able to take in some of the most famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Musee d'Orsay and Notre Dame Cathedral on this hour plus cruise along the Seine River as well as other landmarks, palaces and ornate bridges.  If the weather is in your favour, then the best view is from the upper boat level seated outside.

Some cruise operators will offer packages that will include not just the cruise on the Seine, but also the opportunity to disembark at different points with tickets to visit specific monuments, museums or even cabaret venues such as the Moulin Rouge.

On a cloudy night, the floodlights that light up the riverside monuments from the boats, can be seen throughout the city of Paris, but a night time cruise is a stunning trip that you will never forget.

Of course, for those of you who would like to have a longer cruise and enjoy French food at the same time, there are several operators that cater for lunches and dinners, although be careful to check what type of meal you are going for and the type of luxury you would like, as some offer gourmet meals from highly regarded chefs and of course they have a price tag to match!

As part of your holiday in France, a trip on the River Seine is always an unforgettable experience and you will find many travel agents who can help you book your perfect River Seine Cruise.

Although there are short River Seine cruises on offer, there are also tour operators that do more lengthy boating holidays and cruises even going from Paris to Normandy, where you can glide past storybook chateaux and medieval towns and discover the character, soul and people of France, not just in Paris!
