The renovations were done in such a way as to preserve the
original architecture of the red brick facade and the original art deco interior and
although there are still the two rows of changing cubicles that overlook the pool, just as
there is at the Piscine Pontoise, these
are not actually in use, as there are dedicated changing rooms in a completely different
area.
You will find the gaudy colours of blue and yellow that decorate the interior as they did
originally, yet the glass top it great, because it lets in lots of light and you can look
up into the sky whilst you are in the pool.
The water space is comprised of both athletic and playful pools and the athletic pool is
33 metres in length and 15 metres in width. The new playful pool space with spa is
dedicated to fun and children and has waves, waterslide, etc and even a solarium for the
sunny days and a spa that can cater for twenty people at a time and is great for the
relaxation.
The pools are accessible to the handicapped and also for parents with very young children
that want to teach them to swim at an early age.
We did quickly mention that this venue has an ice rink and this building was rebuilt on
the site of the original ice rink that burned down in a fire in 1997.
The surface area of the ice is 800 square metres and the impressive glass that surrounds
the exterior of the building allows the ice skaters to make the most of the natural light
that it lets in.
This building is situated opposite the building that houses the pools and is connected by
a walkway, but there is also a caf? that provides drinks and snacks that overlooks the
ice skating rink.
This venue is situated in the 19th Arrondissement in Paris,
and is open most times during the year, but the ice skating rink is closed during the
summer, but the pool complex actually stays open until later in the evening.
