Flora Danica is situated in the 8th arrondissement of Paris and located on the most famous avenue in the
world, the Avenue des Champs Elysees and
when dining inside it is more like being in any of the many restaurants in Paris, with the fresh food
served to you in a clean cut modern interior with unusual hanging lamps.
But this is a very different place to your normal Paris café or tea salon, where they also
have a take away service for delicious sandwiches and other delights that you see, so it
is a great way of experiencing a completely different style of cuisine.
Fish is always featured highly on the menu at this Paris
restaurant and they serve excellent fresh fish in a variety of ways from raw or
marinated through to cooked grilled or smoked, and one particular signature dish is the
salmon fillet that is grilled on one side. Another signature dish for those that
like meat is the very tender reindeer steak roasted in brown beer.
Also there is a Sunday Brunch in a buffet-style, that is extremely popular and very
beneficial if you have trouble trying to decide not just the type of food, but how you
would like it prepared. For instance, they will provide salmon and herrings cooked
in different ways, along with meat dishes including roasts, plus salads, raw and cooked
vegetables, cheeses, and desserts such as rice pudding, chocolate mousse or fruit salad.
Restaurant Guide Key Points
Flora Danica is open from noon to 2.30pm and from 7.15pm through to 11pm every day of the
week.
The Sunday Brunch is buffet style and is approximately 40 per person but you need to
go there hungry to make the most of the sumptuous food on offer, as you can eat as much as
you like.
A couple of dishes on the main menu are likely to include pickled salmon with potatoes and
dill cream for around 26 and reindeer fillet roasted with brown beer and mixed
fruits for around 39, however they also have a set lunch menu as well, which is
around 45.
You will find a very mixed clientele, but this restaurant and cafe is suitable for all
ages and there is no particular dress code although the crowd does seem rather trendy and
better dressed of an evening, yet you also see business people of a lunchtime.
The nearest Metro station is George V and as well as the obvious French and Danish, some
of the staff also do speak very good English, Spanish as well as German.
