With its many rivers full of Trout, Trench, Roach, Carp, and
Pike, just pick up a fishing license from your local bar tabac and you are set for a day
of fishing, however, there are only a very select few
places that you can do night fishing unless on a privately
owned lake.
Le Pays de Trois Lacs, which are held back by three Dams, provide fantastic conditions for
angling and water sports, but also have man-made sandy beaches for those that are not so
energetic. Water lovers can also choose to be spoilt by Lac de Vassiviere, a
favourite holiday destination of the French where
you can enjoy boat trips, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, water-skiing, cycling, walking,
horse riding, or just being there to relax on the beach.
Treignac is a paradise for canoeing and rafting and on the banks of the Auvezere you'll
find a chateau called Segur-le-Chateau with its looming castle. A medieval town
called Uzerche is worth a visit and it is circled entirely by the river Vezere.
Remains of fortifications dating from around 450BC to the Roman Conquest can be found at
