France Travel Guide to Nord-Pas-De-Calais Province

Nord-Pas-De-Calais is one of the regions in France where there are many places to visit and activities to enjoy when you travel in France..

Just over the border from Belgium and a quick journey by ferry or by the Channel crossing from England lies the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region.

This is a region of contrasting landscapes right through from meadows and marshlands, forests and woods, to rolling hills dotted with windmills and a varied coastline that stretches for miles and miles.

Nord-Pas-De-Calais Province of France

There is something for everyone to experience with many wide open spaces of unspoilt countryside that make up the Regional Natural Parks, a network of waterways for river cruising, and much, much more.

It is a region proud of its traditions, plus fairs, f?tes and festivals have become part of the daily life.

Yet steeped in history, Calais has a rich heritage to discover; from its region's monuments and museums through to historic cities dating from Roman times and you cannot travel to France without experiencing the mouth-watering examples of the regional specialities and locally brewed beers.

But in England, Calais is best known for the day trips to France in which to buy cheap wine, beer and cigarettes.  However, if you go into Calais centre, there are some tremendous restaurants to experience the true French cuisine and enjoy a peaceful lunch with the regional specialities.
